Australia’s graduate job market and top employers for 2022
Are you in your final year of study, recently graduated, or are looking to move to Australia after studying? It been over two years of upheaval, online learning for most and general disruption. However, the job market has bounced back, creating many opportunities for graduates in many industries.
The Top 100 Graduate Employers report looks at the state of the graduate workforce in Australia. It’s published by the Australian Financial Review in partnership with GradConnection, and includes a ranking of the top 100 companies that recent graduates are most engaged with.
The introduction of this report states says that despite all the chaos of the last couple of years, we are in a graduate’s market. While the market is still competitive, employers are needing to work hard to both attract and retain employees.
The report states: ‘for many young people, the question they ask themselves is not so much, “Will I get a job? It is more along the lines of, “Where do I want to work?”’. The Gen Z workforce is one of values, purpose and contribution to society – ‘this is not the Wolf of Wall Street generation.’

All Big Four accounting firms and three of the Big Four banks placed in the top 10.
Improving your prospects at graduation
An analysis accompanying the report includes a message from Dan Purchas of GradConnection. His advice to students is that while the power is currently in the hands of the employee, it’s still highly recommended you try to get as much experience while studying as possible, to improve your career prospects
