This combined degree program provides students with the generic skills and understanding of humanities and social sciences in conjunction with legal education for the practice of law. The Arts course provides graduates with the ability to understand and study human society. The Law course aims to provide knowledge of the legal system and legal principles, and to cultivate a capacity for legal research, analysis and communication. The course also provides international and theoretical perspectives on the law and encourages an appreciation of legal issues of special significance to the Northern Territory, including Aboriginal legal issues.
Structure
400 credit points including 20 credit points of common units. The Arts course requires completion of 80 credit points of core units and an approved specialisation of 60 credit points. The Law course requires completion of 150 credit points of core units and 90 credit points of law specialist electives.

Standard entry requirements
- NTCET or equivalent (Year 12) and an ATAR of 75 or higher
- Or Certificate IV or above
- Or STAT score of 135 or greater
- Or submission of an acceptable personal competencies statement and/or employment experience
- Or 6 months of full-time study (or equivalent) of a higher education degree/diploma
- Or completion of 40 credit points in the Preparation for Tertiary Study Program (ZTEP01), the Preparation for Tertiary Success (ZPTS11 or ZPTS21), or other recognised tertiary preparation course.
Recognition
The law degree provides the academic foundation for admission to legal practice in the Northern Territory and elsewhere in Australia. Students should also seek advice from the admitting authority in the State or Territory in which they propose to seek admission to professional practice. To be admitted to legal practice in Australia law graduates must also complete the Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice (GDLP). The GDLP may be taken through the College of Law, Sydney, and can be completed online from anywhere in Australia or overseas. The College of Law provides a focus relevant to the State or Territory in which the student is studying.
