Curtin has rapidly expanded into the globally recognised university we are today. Acknowledged as Western Australia’s most preferred university, Curtin continues to embrace the philosophy of our namesake, former Australian Prime Minister John Curtin, to “look ever forward”. This mantra has instilled a culture of teaching and research excellence and innovation and continues to encourage our staff and students to make tomorrow better.
Curtin’s growing reputation has seen us rapidly rise up the international rankings. We are ranked among the top one per cent of universities worldwide in the Academic Ranking of World Universities 2017. We are also ranked in the top 100 in the world across eight subjects, including second in the world for mineral and mining engineering, in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2018.
Our largest campus in Perth is easy to get to on public transport and very multicultural. There is a variety of on and off-campus housing options and a range of support services to help you enjoy life and succeed in your studies. Our English centre has excellent facilities, a range of student services and dedicated staff to help you improve your English language skills.
Curtin’s undergraduate and postgraduate courses are regularly reviewed by industry, business and government to ensure our graduates are prepared for today’s changing global job market.
We have also incorporated work integrated learning activities and introduced technology-rich environments that recreate real workplaces, such as a simulated hospital ward, stock market trading room and digital marketing agency, so our students can graduate with the skills and knowledge employers want.
We offer courses across the following study areas:
Curtin is making it easier for international students who don’t meet the university’s English language requirement, offering a free, 10-week English Language Program.
The program is available to all international students who have received an offer to study at Curtin’s Perth campus which is conditional on meeting the required standard of English. Passing the course satisfies that requirement. Terms and conditions apply.
Our campuses are fun and lively places where you can not only study but also improve your communication skills, become involved in community projects and make life-long friends.
At Curtin we respect and support all students, including those from varying cultures and religions, as well as people with disabilities, and the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex community.
To help you explore and practise the religious faith of your choice, our Perth campus has a multi-faith services team as well as prayer rooms that are reserved for spiritual or religious purposes.
Finding accommodation in Perth is easy with the help from Curtin’s housing services. A number of on- and off-campus accommodation options are available for international students.
Priority for on-campus accommodation is given to students who are new to Perth. All on-campus accommodation is self-catering and fully furnished, consisting of single-study bedrooms with shared facilities, such as kitchens and bathrooms.
There is also the option to live in a share house, boarding arrangement or a single rental off campus.
The Curtin Student Guild is student-run and represents student interests on university boards and committees. It offers social and welfare services, and lots of extra-curricular activities, such as the Guild Ball, tavern shows, multicultural week and market days.
Curtin Stadium is the home of sport, fitness, recreation and events on the Perth campus, with a main gym, women’s gym, large group fitness area, indoor cycling studio, sports hall and multi-purpose courts available for hire. There are many registered and affiliated sports clubs catering for all levels of skill and experience.
Food choices at the Perth campus include cafés (two of which offer Halal food) and a tavern that regularly stages live music. Pop-up food trucks in campus hotspots offer food from around the world.
