The Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) (Honours) - 4 years requires 4 years of full-time study (or the equivalent part-time). The course specialisation is offered by the College of Science and Engineering.
Structure
The program has four main themes - structures, transport, water and geomechanics. The first year comprises study in fundamental science and engineering topics including design, engineering physics and materials, engineering mechanics, computer programming, mathematics and mechatronics. The second year includes study in mechanics and structures, fluid mechanics, geology and geomechanics and structural engineering. The third year then provides study in hydraulics and water engineering, geotechnical engineering and project management. It also includes a 20-week industry placement. Fourth year provides capstone studies and option topics in civil engineering. It also includes a major civil research project allowing high-performing students to progress to a higher degree by research.
