The Master of Sacred Theology (MST) is a qualification at Level 9. It enables students to acquire an advanced body of knowledge related to theology. The Master of Sacred Theology qualifies students to engage in advanced scholarly activity and professional work associated with the field of specialisation chosen. It can be used in fulfilment of the admission requirements for the John Paul II Institute PhD programme. The Master of Sacred Theology is offered only with a specialisation in Marriage and Family.

Standard entry requirements
- Baccalaureate in Sacred Theology or the Bachelor of Theology (Hons) or equivalent
- A sufficiently strong background in philosophy and 3 years undergraduate study in theology with a credit average or have completed such preliminary coursework as may be required by the Academic Board
- An adequate reading knowledge of scholastic Latin and/or biblical Greek demonstrated by successful completion of a written exam by the end of first semester
- And have an adequate reading knowledge of at least one modern language (French, Spanish, Italian or German) demonstrated by successful completion of a written examination by the end of second semester.
