Do you have a love of language and deep knowledge of more than one language and one culture? Are you meticulous? Do you have fantastic writing and public speaking skills? If so, a career in translating and interpreting may be your calling. If youre proficient in more than one language in addition to English, the Master of Translation and Interpreting Studies will provide you with the skills and knowledge youll require to perform translation and interpreting in a range of institutional settings common to community and commercial translation and interpreting practice in Australia and overseas. This degree allows you to study in the following languages paired with English: Chinese (Mandarin), French, Japanese, Korean and Spanish.

Standard entry requirements

  • AQF level 7 bachelors qualification in a related field or recognised equivalent
  • Or AQF level 7 bachelors qualification or recognised equivalent with one of:
  • Performance in their non-related bachelors degree of an MQ equivalent WAM of +65, or
  • A recognised professional qualification in translation or interpreting, or
  • One year (full-time equivalent) approved work experience
  • Proficiency in one of the available languages, and
  • For students whose first language is English, completion of an admission assessment
