This program will teach students to think analytically and technically about science, engineering and information technology. Depending on their chosen stream, the Diploma offers a direct pathway to the Engineering or IT Faculty at Monash University.

Structure

  • All students complete the same curriculum in part 1 and have the option of choosing between the Engineering or Information Technology (IT) stream in part 2. Part 1: 2 trimesters (8 months)
  • Part 2 Engineering stream: 3 trimesters (12 months) Part 2 IT stream: 2 trimesters (8 months). Depending on previous academic results and prerequisite study scores, students may be required to complete both Part 1 and Part 2 of the diploma. Applicants should note that a qualification is only awarded after successful completion of Part 2.

Standard entry requirements

  • Diploma Part 1: completion of Australian Year 11 or equivalent
  • Prerequisites: Australian Year 11 equivalent Mathematics, Chemistry or Physics, and English
  • Diploma Part 2: completion of Australian Year 12 or equivalent
  • Prerequisites: Year 12 equivalent higher level Mathematics, either Physics or Chemistry and English

Study pathways

Students will be required to meet minimum entry requirements before progressing to their selected destination degree. After successfully completing the Diploma of Engineering (Engineering stream) students will be eligible for entry into the following Monash University degrees: Engineering. After successfully completing the Diploma of Engineering (IT stream) students will be eligible for entry into the following Monash University degrees: Information Technology or Computer Science.
