The Associate Degree in Applied Science course gives you the core laboratory and science skills for a range of professional roles or for advanced standing pathway into a bachelor degree. A large component of this program is hands-on and includes a number of specialised simulated workplace laboratories. You will develop a broad range of skills in chemical and biological laboratory techniques commonly used in biomedical laboratories. You will learn to isolate, purify, amplify and characterise DNA, and perform techniques such as tissue culture, electrophoresis and other laboratory skills associated with biomedical sciences. You will also undertake 80 hours of professional practice where you will tackle a relevant workplace project or task. This program may also provide you with a pathway into a range of science-related bachelor degrees with advanced standing.
