TAFE South Australia (TAFE SA)

This qualification is part of the Creative Arts and Culture Training Package. It reflects the role of individuals who combine technical, creative and conceptual skills to create designs that meet client requirements and solve a range of visual communication challenges. Practice at this level is underpinned by application of design theory and practice and the ability to analyse and synthesise information from a range of sources to generate design solutions. Practitioners may work in many different commercial and community contexts across both print and digital media.

Our lecturers are all highly experienced and they are active in their fields of expertise. Our teaching methods blend theory with hands-on, practical learning using industry-standard facilities and technology, so when you complete your course, you are job-ready.

Many of our courses include industry work placements as part of the course program. These work placements give you first-hand experience of the workplace, allowing you to test your skills and make valuable industry contacts. 

At TAFE SA, our lecturers are accessible and supportive, and our classes are mostly between 15 and 20 students. These small class sizes mean more personal assistance and attention, and a more rewarding study experience. 

Studying at TAFE SA gets results — research by the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) in 2017 showed that 89 per cent of graduates were satisfied with the overall quality of training and 87 per cent find jobs or continue studying.

Facilities

You will study at one of seven main campuses in or close to the centre of Adelaide. TAFE SA campuses and centres of excellence are equipped with state-of-the-art specialist facilities, including restaurants, kitchens, studios, workshops, nursing wards, dental clinics, automotive workshops, animation and production suites, and fashion workshops. Our facilities allow students to learn in real-life environments, making their skills immediately transferable to employment.

University pathway programs

Our packaged programs with the University of South Australia, the University of Adelaide and Flinders University offer you an alternative way of achieving your end goal of a bachelor degree.

Successful completion of a TAFE SA diploma, advanced diploma or associate degree guarantees* your entry into a connected undergraduate program at one of Adelaide’s finest universities. It also reduces the length of time you are required to study at university and therefore the cost of your bachelor degree. 

By applying for a University Packaged Program, students receive a joint offer from both TAFE SA and a South Australian university and may apply to the Department of Home Affairs for a single visa for the duration of the whole study program.

*Guaranteed only if the students meet the minimum requirements to transfer to the applicable university.

 

The support you need

TAFE SA provides you with a range of support services both before and after you arrive in South Australia. Once you have enrolled in your course, we offer information on airport pickups, accommodation and orientation.  

Once you have arrived in Adelaide, you will receive a comprehensive orientation from the international office, as well as English language support and counselling if you need it. During the study terms there are a variety of student events and activities for you to participate in and interact with your fellow students.
