A Bachelor of Game Design and Development expands on design, artistic and technical skills for creating modern games and interactive projects. It covers the creation of elements such as environments, characters and stories for immersive experiences, and provides hands-on experience with industry-standard software. Throughout this game design degree you will work alongside lecturers who’ll offer practical industry insights while you develop enhanced skills in 2D, 3D, animation, environment art, character art and an understanding of user experience in games. Working in teams, you’ll develop electronic games across various platforms, including online, mobile and console in a similar environment to a real-world studio. As well as giving you practical skills, knowledge and design capability, the Bachelor of Game Design and Development also encourages a holistic approach, enhancing your soft skills such as communication, commercial acumen, and an understanding of business realities.

Structure

This course comprises of six core subjects, 11 specialisation subjects and five elective subjects. Each subject involves 10 hours of study per week, comprising three hours of facilitated study and seven hours self-directed study.

Standard entry requirements

Year 12 (Australian secondary school certificate) or equivalent OR Successful completion of a Vocational qualification (AQF Level 4), or above OR Successful completion of a Higher Education qualification OR Work life experience demonstrating the ability to undertake study at the required level.
