In this double degree combination, you will gain a competitive edge with specialist skills in areas such as database management, programming, information systems analysis and design, communications and networks, and security in an ever-changing dynamic industry.We believe that practical experience is a vital part of your legal training. We are the only law school in New South Wales that requires you to complete a legal internship, providing highly valued industry experience. We are committed to social justice and providing a legal education that engages with the complexities of law's intersection with society.This double degree delivers a practical and contextual legal education that prepares graduates not only for traditional careers in the legal profession but also for a wide range of careers in government, business and community organisations – as leaders, innovators and problem solvers.

Structure

The Bachelor of Information Technology - Bachelor of Laws requires the successful completion of 264 credit points as specified below:114 credit points of core Law subjects;30 credit points of electives from the Bachelor of Laws - Law Elective Schedule;90 credit points of core Information Technology subjects;6 credit points of CSIT, CSCI or ISIT coded subject or 6 credit points from the general schedule and;an additional 24 credit points that can consist of one of the majors listed below or;an additional 24 credit points of ISIT, CSCI, and/or CSIT subjects consisting of 18 credit points of 300 level ISIT, CSCI, and/or CSIT subjects, and an additional 6 credit point subject at 200/300 level ISIT, CSCI, and/or CSIT not listed in the core.Students can complete LLB3396 Legal Internship Program once the pre-requisite requirements are satisfied. Students should refer to the School of Law for further information on opportunities.

Standard entry requirements

Applicants need to have achieved the required score in a qualification equivalent to the completion of 13 years of schooling in Australia.

Recognition

By completing your law degree at UOW, you are completing an academic qualification that is recognised for admission as a lawyer in Australia, subject to completing state-approved Practical Legal Training (PLT). For further details on NSW admissions, visit the Legal Profession Admission Board website: http://www.lpab.justice.nsw.gov.au/ The Bachelor of Information Technology is accredited by the Australian Computer Society as meeting requirements for membership at the 'Professional' level.

Study pathways

If applicants can demonstrate they have met the learning outcomes for UOW subjects through prior learning, such as previous tertiary or TAFE qualifications, they may be eligible for credit towards their degree. Where relevant to the UOW degree, specified credit may be given for specific subject(s); where not relevant to the degree, unspecified credit may be awarded.
