Graduates of this program will be able to seek employment as K-6 (Primary) teachers in and beyond the New South Wales Government, Catholic, and Independent school sectors. The program aims to develop graduates who are inspirational teachers with the capability to act professionally, knowledgeably and effectively in their Primary school destinations; insightful scholars with the capability to engage in rational enquiry into curriculum, policy and practice; and innovative leaders with the capability to play a constructive role in public discourse on and beyond education.
Structure
- The program requires the successful completion of a total of 330 units. Students are required to successfully complete: 280 units of Core Courses
- and 40 units of Directed Courses (with no more than 20 units at the 1000 level) chosen from ONE Discipline Depth Study Area
- and 10 units of Electives.

Standard entry requirements
- Year 12
- Selection based on ATAR or equivalent. Assumed knowledge: Three Band 5 HSC results (with one of those in English)
- Those who do not meet this requirement will be admitted to an 80-unit discipline studies pathway inside their degree, which must be completed before progression to second-year is permitted, as required by the New South Wales Education Standards Authority (NESA).

Study pathways
Students have the option to choose the Special Education pathway that covers a wide range of instructional strategies for students with additional needs in both inclusive and special education settings. Students wishing to complete graded honours have the option to apply for admission to transfer to the Bachelor of Education (Primary) (Honours) research program at the end of the second year. Admission to the Honours program is based upon a minimum GPA of 5.0 in the first 160 units of the Bachelor of Education (Primary) program.
