Study in this program trains students to teach a range of subjects. In first and second years students engage in a broad tertiary education that will include units available through Arts and Social Sciences, and Education and Social Work. The full professional program in teaching and curriculum begins in third year and will concentrate on your selected teaching areas, together with continuing academic study in the relevant humanities units.
Structure
In the first 2 years Education is taken as a compulsory subject, together with units of study in 2 teaching areas in, for example, English and History. At the end of 5 years of study students complete the BEd/BA and will be qualified to teach in 2 or 3 teaching areas. Students can exit the program at the end of Year 3 with the BA or continue toward the BEd which is taken in Year 4.
