This course provides an opportunity at master's level for recently graduated engineers who have completed either a three- or four-year Bachelor of Engineering or Technology. Students can enrol into the Master of Professional Engineering and continue in the field of specialisation. This course enables students to deepen knowledge and expertise in their field, and be ready-to-practice in engineering. Students can undertake a major and be recognised for this specialisation on their testamur. The Master of Professional Engineering is designed to incorporate an integrated approach to professional engineering practice through using compulsory professional engineering subjects, compulsory subjects relevant to the major, an independent engineering graduate project component and compulsory engineering practice stream. This structure allows for efficiency and flexible delivery of courses and enables us to offer subjects in a sustainable manner across the disciplines.
Structure
Candidates complete coursework subjects, an independent engineering graduate project and engineering practice subjects, totalling 96 credit points of study. The project component consists of a preparatory subject and a project (in the area of the major). As part of this course, students can select two elective subjects from postgraduate programs offered by the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology. A major is granted if subjects and project worth at least 54 credit points are completed within a particular postgraduate program major.
