This one-year degree is designed for high-achieving students who have fulfilled the requirements of a Bachelor of Nursing and have achieved the required academic standards. The honours program is designed to extend your knowledge and skills by allowing you to research a topic of interest. It provides supervision for a beginning researcher through individual mentoring and group seminars. A major component of the degree is to guide you through the research process, including formulating testable questions from the research literature; devising appropriate methods to test these questions; obtaining ethics committee approval; data collection and analysis; oral presentation of results; and report writing. You will also develop and conduct a research project resulting in a thesis presentation.

Standard entry requirements

  • A Bachelor of Nursing degree from a recognised tertiary institution with a Distinction average in 300-level Nursing subjects.
  • Students considering an Honours degree are encouraged to talk to the Program Coordinator well in advance to seek approval for enrolment, discuss their program, and negotiate a thesis topic and supervisors.
